USN to Scrap 3 Conventional CV's: Connie, Forrestal, and Sara

The end is near. She’s heading for the scrap heap. It’s time to say goodbye to “Connie,” one of the most beloved naval ships in the history of San Diego. ... The Navy is steadily getting rid of three old, conventionally powered aircraft carriers: the Constellation, the Forrestal and the Saratoga. These ships were technical marvels when they entered the fleet a half-century or so ago. For example, the Constellation helped introduce the F-14 Tomcat to the fleet.
