BAE Systems Captor E-Scan Radar Integrated onto Eurofighter Typhoon

As an E-scan (AESA) radar, the Captor-E’s simultaneous
multi-tasking ability means that the pilot is able
to scan a wide area in front of the aircraft or on the ground,
while identifying ground targets or tracking
individual flying objects at the same time.

Captor-E is the future primary sensor on Eurofighter Typhoon and has a full suite of Air-to-Air and Air-to-Surface modes. The capacious front fuselage of the Eurofighter Typhoon allows the installation of Captor-E’s optimised array whose Field of Regard is some 50 per cent wider than traditional fixed plate systems.
This wide field of regard offers significant benefits in both Air-to-Air and Air-to-Surface engagements and given the large power and aperture available provides the pilot with much enhanced angular coverage compared to fixed plate systems.

An upgraded BAE Systems Eurofighter Typhoon development aircraft has already undergone a series of modifications as part of ongoing Captor E-Scan development. The aircraft flew for the first time with Captor E-Scan fitted in July this year and will continue both ground testing and flight trials.

Eurofighter and NETMA sign €1bn Typhoon Captor E-Scan radar contract - Airforce Technology

Eurofighter has signed a €1bn [$1.239 Billion] contract with the Nato Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency (NETMA) to develop the Captor E-Scan radar for the Typhoon multi-role fighter, during a ceremony in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Signed on behalf of the UK, Germany, Spain and Italy, the contract will see the integration of the Captor E-Scan on-board the aircraft to help further improve Typhoon's combat effectiveness.
Eurofighter CEO Alberto Gutierrez said: "The signing of this contract is a massive boost to all of us and is a pivotal moment.
East Lancashire MPs’ joy as BAE lands fighter deal (From Lancashire Telegraph)

EAST Lancashire MPs Jack Straw and Nigel Evans have welcomed the news that BAE Systems has won a £365 million contract for advanced radar equipment for Eurofighter Typhoon.
The four-nation consortium behind the futuristic warplane has given the contract to the firm which employs 10,000 people at its Samlesbury and Warton factories.

European Air Forces to get AESA radars for their Typhoons | Defense Update:

Europe has been lagging behind the USA in the introduction of AESA radar technology; similar radars have already been deployed with US Air Force F-15s, US Navy F/A-18s, and F-16s in the UAE. A smaller AESA radar has also been developed for the Gripen E, and the French Rafale. According to Euroradar, the Captor E will be superior of contemporary AESA radars designed with fixed antennae.  The new design enables an increased range in target acquisition and target tracking and, thanks to the rotating antenna, a considerably larger field of view, compared to other state-of-the-art combat aircraft.
