U.S. and Allies to Blitz Southern California Beach in September with DB15

Sgt. Michele Hunt Sailors and Marines conducted Landing Craft Air Cushion operations to load vehicles and weapon systems onto USS Bonhomme Richard from a Camp Pendleton beach, Sept. 27. Sailors with Assault Craft Unit 5 moved more than 70 Marines and sailors and 25 vehicles from shore to the ship.

1st Marine Expeditionary Brigade will join Expeditionary Strike Group Three for the 2015 iteration of Dawn Blitz. The exercise provides realistic, relevant training necessary for effective global crisis response performed by integrated Naval and Marine Corps forces.

SAN DIEGO - Naval, aviation and ground forces from the United States, Japan, Mexico and New Zealand are scheduled to participate in Exercise Dawn Blitz 2015 off the coast and ashore in Southern California from August 31 to September 9.


Dawn Blitz 2015 (DB15) is a multinational amphibious exercise designed to train the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps in operations expected of an amphibious task force while also building U.S. and partner nation operational capabilities and interoperability. DB15 will also test military forces in the planning and execution of amphibious operations in a series of live training events at sea and ashore.

Following the port visit in Pearl Harbor, the JMSDF ships are slated to arrive in San Diego and participate in the multilateral exercise Dawn Blitz 2015. SAN CLEMENTE ISLAND — A joint force of U.S. and Japanese infantry secured the airfield on a remote training range off the coast of San Diego Monday during the Dawn Blitz military exercise.
The 1st Marine Expeditionary Force and the Navy’s Third Fleet are frequent visitors at San Clemente Island, where they practice the complex coordination required of ship-to-shore operations and live fire exercises.
